So… it’s 2008. Is this the year when everything changes? Well – I guess we say that every year, but this time I really think a lot of stuff can go down.
For example, we’ve only seen the beginning of social networks in my opinion. They’re still very young. You can tell from the quality of everything from the applications to the quality of peoples interactions. People still don’t have manners, spamming their friends and tagging people left and right. People are still hesitant as to who you can talk to and how, and what is considered good form. It’ll get there though. It’s just like any other social event. I do think however that this will not only evolve socialy, but also technically. More on that in a separate post.
We will also see entirely new uses of social networks. Where they’ve been primarily aimed at private interaction I would predict a lot more professional use this year.
Flash will also make a comeback this year. The issues of searchability, simplicity and speed that made AJAX the weapon of choice in 2007 will not be issues for long, and let’s face it, while looks are not everything it’s darn important. Design agencies will put a lot of emphasis on digital in 2008 I would think.
