Paddling out to Rocky Point today it struck me how surfing is a lot like life in general. It’s that last paddle stroke, the one you don’t think you need, that gets you on that wave. You also have to conserve your energy for the right waves, or your arms will be out of power when the right wave comes along. Waves usually come in sets, so you can wait for number two or three, but wait too long and you’ll miss the entire set. Think, but don’t miss your breaks.
