On the sensitive subject of Web 3.0 this post and this post are both worth reading (Thank’s Carl). Personally I think they’re both right and wrong.
What I suggest is that Web 3.0 is about abstracting one layer and letting the layer below take care of itself. Of going beyond the “five star rating system” and “views” to define what’s good. It’s not about human search engines, not about computerized sensemaking technology either. Not entirely anyway. We combine these methods and technologies to up the intuitive understanding of what is relevant and interesting to you. We have to. Otherwise we’ll drown in a sea of irrelevant info.
Regarless of if I’m right or dead wrong, my point in the last post still stands – Web 3.0 is not what you use to create a new website for underwear.
