I recently went through an experimental period on this blog where much of the blog content was about my diary as an ad man, featuring plenty of pictures and diary entries about parties, coffee breaks and fashion choices. Did more people read it? Yes. Was I criticized for being shallow? Yes.
The point of this blog however has never been to entertain, but rather to reflect over the present state of communication and speculate in what the future may hold for us in that respect. So I changed back.
Now the reading of my blog went back down again, right? Wrong. It stayed the same. And even increased. So what has that taught us? I don’t know, but maybe sugarcoating is not such a bad idea. Maybe putting beautiful entertaining covers on schoolbooks is not so dumb. And maybe, just maybe, people eventually want what’s real after all. Let’s hope.
