The mobile telephony operator Telenor are being threatened by IFPI that they’re going to be taken to court if they don’t block The Pirate Bay for their customers. I guess taking TPB themselves to court is one thing (though counter productive), but taking Telenor to court?
It will be interesting to see how far IFPI and others can push the patience of the artists. Will the artists want to be associated to these attempts of censorship? Nothing is more important to an artist than his or her brand, and I think very few people are in favor of actions like this one.
Luckily for Telenor, their PR department have spotet this threat and are welcoming IFPI to court. This line of action may well push Telenor towards becoming a hero for internet liberals and the prefered service provider the younger generation. Smart move.
