I don’t know if you’ve tried out Flock – The Social Web Browser yet. I’m starting out just now (thanks for the tip, Calle from Superstrikers), so I’m not sure if I can recommend it or not but I guess if you’re reading this, at least the blog editor worked.
Instinctively I’m skeptical about local solutions. I prefer to use web-interfaces whenever possible to stay perfectly mobile. I like being able to pick up someone else’s computer and having my exact setup. I mean, there is always a learning curve, and why should I lock in the habits that I’ve learned to some particular local machine. But still, I’ve decided to give this a go. As things unfold I’ll keep you posted on the thumbs up/down.

Although I have not used it personally, something like Computer-On-a-Stick will allow you to remain mobile. That, or things like it would allow you to remain mobile. Otherwise, flock is no different from any other browser regarding the ability of having your experience be the same on any computer that you use. There are extensions like Google Browser Sync that allow for you to synchronize a majority of your Mozilla browser settings, and this will work with Flock and Firefox. Another solution would be to save your profile periodically, say at Gmail using GSpace, and then you could have that profile on any computer that you were to use.
Oh, here is what I had been thinking of:
http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable
“Mozilla Firefox®, Portable Edition is the popular Mozilla Firefox web browser bundled with a PortableApps.com Launcher as a portable app, so you can take your bookmarks, extensions and saved passwords with you.”
And here is the Mac OS X version: http://www.freesmug.org/portableapps/firefox
Thanks for commenting. I’ll check it out!
